Applicants are invited to apply for the 2026-27 Civil Grand Jury.

Prior jury service is not obligatory for the 23 members who sit in this grand panel of ordinary civic-minded citizens, according to the Superior Court of Los Angeles County.
Prospective applicants must be:
(a.) U.S. citizens aged 18 years or older.
(b.) Able to reasonably read and speak English.
(c.) Residents of LA County for a period of no less than one year.
While the compensation is lackluster at best, this is a job for those who enjoy serving the public and performing an important civic duty.
Amongst the benefits of being a member of a Civil Grand Jury, is the prospect of exercising oversight of local government, and advancing the scrutiny of public agencies.
The resulting wealth of experience in turn can potentially lead to elevated civic occupations if that is a desirable objective.
